A lot has been reported about the future of NEC star Anthony Limbombe in the past week, and now the technical manager of the Dutch side has had his say on the situation. The Leeds United target is keen to leave the club this summer, which has been confirmed by Danny Hoekman.
Speaking to local newspaper Gerlderlander, Hoekman was asked about the future of Limbombe at the club. The NEC chief said the player wants to find another club to play for, but they won’t let him go on the cheap.
Hoekman feels that with the number of clubs interested in the 21-year-old, NEC know they don’t have to sell the attacker below his valuation, and pointed out the youngster is still under contract.
“He is interested in going to another club. There is a price. This is the famous game of supply and demand. Limbombe is under contract. If you have a contract, you have your obligations,” said the NEC technical manager.
Hoekman’s comments have been backed up in recent days following reports they’ve turned down a €1.7m bid from Club Brugge, despite Limbombe wanting the move.
With NEC rejecting this offer, it puts Leeds United in a good position if they are willing to pay up to €3m to land the Belgian.
