After Monday morning’s update that Sevilla were edging ever closer to sealing a deal with Aston Villa regarding the transfer of Jordan Amavi, Monday afternoon saw the two clubs agree to pretty much everything.

According to El Desmarque, Sevilla managed to agree terms with Jordan Amavi, although the length of the deal has yet to filter, and, ‘barring any major changes’, have also sorted out the transfer fee with the Villains.

The Spanish website claim the 23-year-old will move to the La Liga club for a flat fee of €7m + €2m in bonuses, which is a nice middle ground between the €10m asked by Aston Villa in the first place and the €6m Sevilla were said to have offered last week.

Refusing to leave in January in order to pay back the trust the Midlands club and fans put in him throughout his injury, Amavi made 34 appearances for the Villains last year in the Championship, picking up one assist along the way.

While the Villa Park faithful will have wanted to keep the French defender, the chance of playing Europa League football doesn’t present itself every day, and it’s only fair for Aston Villa to let him move on up in the world.

At least Dr Tony Xia is getting a decent amount of money for him.
