Stoke City are in the race to sign Club Brugge forward Pierre Xavier Fonkeu, according to claims in the Belgian media, and face competition from three Championship clubs. The youngster could leave Belgium this summer, and Voetbal Nieuws claims Sunderland, Wolves, and Norwich City and also in the fight.

Voetbal Nieuws have reported Stoke City are monitoring the situation with Fonkeu after Brugge recently signed Jérémy Perbet.

Sunderland, Norwich City, and Wolves will hope they’d be able to offer Fonkeu a better chance of first team football than Stoke City, with each Championship club having their own reasons to recruit.

With Sunderland dropping down to the Championship they’ll need to rebuild their squad, and Fonkeu could be an option. Wolves are determined to make a better go of trying to get promotion, and whilst Nuno Espirito Santo is more linked with Portuguese based players, Fonkeu interest at Wolves could be a result of a scouting at a club level.

Norwich City finished 8th last season and, just like Wolves, will be hoping to push further on during the next campaign. New manager Daniel Farke wouldn’t be looking at Fonkeu as a first choice striker, but the 19 year old could be a squad option.

All should be revealed soon, with a move for Fonkeu said to be very close.
