According to claims in the Italian media, Lazio are to step up their pursuit of Chelsea attacking midfielder Mario Pasalic, and if they fail to land the player they could turn to Southampton’s Jordy Clasie.
Leeds United have reportedly been showing an interest in Pasalic in the past few days.
TMW have reported Lazio could look to move in on the Croatian, with the uncertainty over the future of Lucas Biglia with the Serie A side. Pasalic looks surplus to requirements with the Premier League champions, and subsequently Lazio want to loan the player with a right of redemption.
If the Serie A side fail to land the Chelsea youngster they could turn their attention to Southampton’s Clasie. The Dutchman has struggled to make an impact at Southampton since he was signed by former manager Ronald Koeman.
Earlier this week Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported Pasalic is a target for Leeds United this summer, along with Lazio and Valencia. Leeds United have already shown their intent in this transfer window, but targeting the Chelsea owned player would be an ambitious move.
With Pasalic being tracked by several major clubs in Europe it will be very difficult for Leeds United to pull off a deal.
