Stoke City, Swansea City and Norwich City all showed interest in Sekou Kaba before his move to Cardiff City, according to Africa Foot as they report on the Championship battle for the player.
At the start of this month, the 17-year-old left Manchester United to join the Bluebirds on a permanent transfer. The Welsh club have confirmed he will initially link up with their U21 side while also being eligible to represent Cardiff City U18s.
Prior to completing his move to Cardiff City, the forward received interest from Stoke City, Swansea City and Norwich City.
Kaba joined the Red Devils’ academy from Derby County in 2021. His development at Manchester United and his potential had caught the attention of several clubs.
He has confirmed Stoke City, Swansea City and the Canaries were all keen to snatch him before his move to Cardiff City.
The Guinean attacker evaluated all options before making a decision to join the Bluebirds. He is of the belief Cardiff City is the right club to continue his development.
“Several clubs were interested in me, including Stoke City, Swansea City, and Norwich City. But after discussing it with my management team, we decided Cardiff was the best option,” he said.
“And we have absolutely no regrets about this decision. It’s an ideal setting for a great experience and to progress.
“I chose Cardiff because it offers me a more direct path to the first team. I’ll be playing with the U21s rather than the U18s, which is a real plus for my development.”
Time will tell whether Kaba’s decision to join Cardiff City over the three other Championship clubs will pay off.
