All bonuses have been due and paid up, transfer has cost Southampton €15m

 

Tuesday’s edition of De Telegraaf has a look at Feyenoord’s record transfers, and how the club have done in the market in recent years.

It’s no surprise to see Jordy Clasie mentioned, and the Dutch newspaper report that Feyenoord received a little more from the player’s transfer to Southampton than many think.

De Telegraaf report the initial fee was €12m, with Feyenoord then managing to negotiate a further €3m in bonuses from Southampton. Often such bonuses are difficult to achieve, but not these, with Clasie already meeting them all within his first two years at Southampton.

That’s left Feyenoord due a total of €15m, including the extra €3m, and it’s already been paid up by Southampton.

De Telegraaf accept that Clasie hasn’t been a runaway success at Southampton, but he’s not been a disaster, and has got three years left on his contract to improve.

At the end of that, or further into the future, maybe he could return to his beloved Feyenoord on a free.
