On Tuesday, we covered claims from Germany which stated West Ham United have held initial intensive talks with RB Leipzig over a move for André Silva in the winter market.

The Hammers have taken further steps to sign the forward if Wednesday’s edition of Bild is to be believed.

They cover West Ham’s interest when previewing the Bundesliga side’s league tie against VfB Stuttgart later today.

The newspaper explains both the 29-year-old and midfielder Xaver Schlager will miss this tie. Schlager is struggling with a knee problem while Silva will be dropped because of the Premier League side’s interest and a move closing in.

It’s claimed the Portugal international is ‘about to leave’ Leipzig for Graham Potter’s side and there’s confidence West Ham are on the verge of securing his services.

Michail Antonio will be out of action for a long spell, and Niclas Füllkrug joined him in West Ham’s treatment room after picking up an injury against Aston Villa in the FA Cup loss.

Silva has made two starts in all competitions this season and a move, likely on loan, to West Ham could help him feature regularly.
