On January 8th, Ruhr Nachrichten stated Aston Villa are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move for Donyell Malen and sporting director Sebastien Kehl is proving to be a tough negotiator with the Villans.
Ruhr Nachrichten also said the Bundesliga side want around €25-30m from Aston Villa for the 25-year-old.
Bild now claim the German club’s asking price is €25m and then provide the latest on the English club.
The Netherlands international came off the bench in the 78th minute in his side’s 3-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.
Aston Villa have taken further steps by ‘increasing the offer’, without the report providing details of such. The difference is ‘no longer far apart’ and negotiations are ‘on the home stretch’, but there’s still no final agreement between the two clubs.
Despite all this, the report states Dortmund manager Nuri Şahin could consider giving Malen minutes against Holstein Kiel on Tuesday.
The winger has agreed a deal with Unai Emery’s side and is waiting for them to find an agreement with Dortmund. Bild claim the Dutchman has his ‘suitcases packed’ to make a move to Villa Park in this window.
Malen has five goals and an assist from 21 games this season.
