Borussia Dortmund are now ‘seriously considering’ signing Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsa this month.
That’s according to journalist Patrick Berger, who reports that Dortmund are looking to strengthen their midfield with a number eight and the Chelsea man is a serious option.
According to his information, the 21-year-old is on Dortmund’s shortlist and coach Nuri Sahim is reportedly a ‘big fan’ of the youngster.
The midfielder has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for their clash with Morecambe in the FA Cup this weekend as he is expected to leave in January. Dortmund are exploring the possibility of a loan deal for him.
Chukwuemeka has found his appearances for Chelsea this season limited exclusively to the cup competitions, with one appearance in the EFL Cup and four in the UEFA Conference League.
He does not appear to be in Enzo Maresca’s plans moving forwards and it seems Dortmund are now seriously considering making an attempt to sign him.
There’s no mention of whether they’d look to include a purchase clause in any loan deal, but that is something they have done with previous loans in the past.
Those are details which will come out if they step up their interest in the Chelsea man, which it seems they are edging towards doing.
