There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Galatasaray are showing interest in Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina.
The Super Lig side wanted to sign an experienced right back during the last window following the departure of Serge Aurier, but could only bring in Danish youngster Elias Jelert.
Sabah today report on Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Nottingham Forest defender, who has impressed for the Premier League side this season.
It’s claimed after rejecting Forest’s offer for their forward Baris Alper Yilmaz, Galatasaray could look to make an ambitious attempt to sign Aina in this transfer window. It’s even claimed the player would be keen on Gala.
The Turkish media outlet state the Nigeria international’s contract expires in the summer, but what isn’t highlighted is Nottingham Forest having the option to extend the deal for another season.
Given the impact the 28-year-old has made for the English side this season it’s very likely they will exercise this option to extend his stay for another 12 months.
Also, any move for Aina will depend on offloading Jelert, but Gala will find it difficult to recoup the €9m they paid to Copenhagen in the summer.
Aina has made 20 Premier League appearances this season, scoring two goals.
Galatasaray look to have no chance, but perhaps it’s some odd irritation revenge after Nottingham Forest moved for Baris Alper Yilmaz.
