On Friday, we covered sudden claims from Catalan newspaper Sport which stated Barcelona are set to make a lunge to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.
The forward has been strongly linked with AC Milan in recent days, with his camp thought to have held at least one meeting with the Rossoneri. Interest from Juventus has largely been dismissed in Germany, and Juventus have been tentatively pulled in by the Italian media.
Sport carry the claims in their Saturday edition, and not only does Barcelona wanting to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United get their front page, it also gets pages two and three.
This is clearly a big splash.
The front page shouts out ‘With Everything for Rashford’, and the first line of Sport’s story claims Barcelona are set to bid for the player and would take him on loan until the end of the season.
Sport explain: ‘The formula would be a loan until June 30, although it is necessary to emphasize that the conversations are still in an initial phase and cannot be accelerated until next week – if both parties wish it, because in operations of this nature everything changes in the blink of an eye. It also remains to be seen whether this hypothetical loan would be accompanied by a non-mandatory purchase option.’
Deco is confident of being able to bring in enough money to finance a loan, which would include the €10m Barcelona will get if Aston Villa sign Oscar Mingueza.
To remove some of the wage bill, January exits for Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati are possible, and it’s suggested the Manchester United player may even lower his demands so he can play for Barcelona for a few months.
