Earlier today, L’Equipe stated Manchester City are ahead in the race to sign Abdukodir Khusanov and are expected to make an offer to RC Lens before this weekend.

It was also reported the Ligue 1 side need at least €40m to sell the defender in the winter market.

Foot Mercato now state Manchester City have taken the necessary steps to sign the centre-back.

It’s claimed Pep Guardiola’s have tabled a €50m bid for the Uzbekistan international in the ‘last few hours’. The report further states the proposal ‘fits in perfectly’ with the French club’s expectations.

Both the Uzbekistan international and his entourage have always prioritised the sporting project over finances. The outlet states the player hasn’t held talks with Guardiola so far, but Manchester City have convinced him.

The Premier League side have no competition left and have an easy route to sign the 20-year-old. He could well be on his way to the Etihad in this window, unless there’s a last-minute surprise.

According to Foot Mercato, the ‘next few hours are decisive’, likely for Manchester City to get this deal over the line.
