AS Roma want Sunderland to provide ‘at least a right of redemption’ to sanction a loan move for Enzo Le Fée this month.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Roma want that clause added before sanctioning a reunion with Regis Le Bris.

The newspaper reports that Roma are keen to move Le Fée on in the January transfer window she’s been ‘a real flop’ since joining in the summer.

The Italian club are trying to find a permanent option for the player but need someone to take a gamble on the player he’s been in the past rather than the one he is now. Step forward Sunderland.

Le Bris knows the player after working with him at Lorient, where Le Fée enjoyed a superb campaign and eventually secured a move to Rennes. Le Bris was credited with managing to ‘make the most of the midfielder’ that season.

He’d be happy to reunite with him at Sunderland and boost their promotion campaign and so the Black Cats are now ‘pressing for the player’.

Roma want a loan with ‘at least’ a right of redemption included worth €23m at the end of the season. It seems the Championship side are yet to offer that, but Le Bris is keen and Roma want a solution fast.

Calciomercato back that up, reporting that ‘Sunderland really wants him’ and the player’s entourage was in Trigoria yesterday to discuss the deal. The famous ‘white smoke’ from Italy, a sign the deal has been done, is being waited on with anticipation.

All suggestions are that it will come at some point, with Roma keen to move the player on and Sunderland keen to reunite him with Le Bris.

French club Lille are also credited with interest.

A way for Sunderland to get this done may be to offer the purchase obligation on condition of promotion to the Premier League, that could convince both Roma and the player.
