On January 2nd, Bild reported Daniel Farke wants to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi in the winter market to improve Leeds United’s chances of promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites are leading the Championship table and are a point ahead of Burnley and Sheffield United, who are in second and third spot respectively.

This week’s edition of SportBild covers touches on Leeds United interest in the defender, who has been a regular when available for selection this season.

The Switzerland international has managed to impress under Gladbach manager Gerardo Seoane, after struggling in the past.

Farke had previously managed the centre-back at the Bundesliga side and aims to bring him to Elland Road in this window. The report claims Leeds’ interest in the 28-year-old is ‘causing unrest’ at the German club.

SportBild point out the German club have the lowest injuries in the league, and this has led to tough competition for a place in the starting lineup. They then mention the rumours of Leeds’ interest in Elvedi and how everything could potentially unravel.
