Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa has had a frustrating time at the club since his arrival in the summer transfer window.

While the Italian returned to action in the Carabao Cup game against Southampton last week, he was not in the squad for Liverpool’s 6-3 win over Tottenham at the weekend.

There is now an indication that Serie A side Atalanta have come forward for Chiesa. L’Eco di Bergamo, as relayed by TuttoAtalanta, have reported today that there has been an ‘exploratory survey’ made by the Serie A league leaders.

The report states that Chiesa has a desire for redemption and this could lead to a return to Italy.

Atalanta could offer an initial loan deal with the option to buy in the summer, but they will face issues with the 27-year-old’s wages. To tide over that problem, they will have to seek an agreement with Liverpool and La Dea will be willing to pay €3m per season.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will also offer Chiesa the chance to turn his career around, as they did with the likes of Charles de Ketelaere and Gianluca Scamacca.

It remains to be seen if they make more contact for the winger or not, but they are interested in the player.
