Besiktas vice president Hüseyin Yücel has told the Turkish media that Aston Villa made attempts to sign Semih Kılıçsoy during the last transfer window.
The young attacker was linked with a move to the Premier League side throughout the summer but couldn’t get a deal over the line.
T24 have reported on comments Yücel made to Tivibu Spor in which he is said to have confirmed Aston Villa’s interest in the Turkey international. The Besiktas director revealed the English side did come in with an initial offer of €12m before increasing this to €15m.
Yücel went on to say Aston Villa offered cash and players to get a deal done, but other members of the Besiktas hierarchy weren’t convinced.
“Semih Kılıçsoy received an offer from Aston Villa. Monchi’s initial offer was €12m, then it went up to €15m. Semih was going to play in our team for 1 year. They also asked, “Do you want Diego Carlos or Alex Moreno?” I couldn’t get it accepted. The president said €15m is too little,” said Yücel.
Kılıçsoy impressed last season for his club, which brought him attention from Premier League sides, including Aston Villa.
However, the 19-year-old has struggled to get games in this campaign and there have been recent claims in the Turkish press they could look to offload him.
He’s contracted to the Black Eagles until June 2028.
