Brentford have been mentioned as a potential suitor for Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup over the past few months.

In October, the Bees were presented as the favourites to land the Dane.

There is now an update from Italy about Frendrup, and Brentford will likely be keeping an eye on the situation as transfer drama builds around the player.

Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo has reported today that the London club were a ‘certain destination’ for the player in the summer transfer window. The move didn’t materialise and as a result the race for the Genoa man is quite open.

That is because both Fiorentina and Atalanta have sought information about the player in recent days. The Bergamo side are mentioned as a more likely destination, with Gian Piero Gasperini said to be a massive admirer.

AC Milan are also a competitor and they are expected to hold talks with Genoa soon.

The 23-year-old will not depart his club for less than €18m in the January transfer window. If Brentford are still interested, now might be a good time to react to the situation.
