Yang Min-hyeok is travelling from South Korea to England to join Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s according to South Korea’s MHN Sports, who say the 18-year-old arrived at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport to start his new adventure. He’s on his way to Tottenham and prior to making the trip, the winger spoke to local reporters.
Back in July, Tottenham agreed a deal with South Korean side Gangwon FC for Min-hyeok to arrive at the north London club in January.
On November 26th, the player stated Spurs he requested he join earlier so that he can quickly adapt to his new surroundings. The teenager is now on his way to the English capital to move to his new club.
The attacker has admitted he couldn’t sleep ahead of his trip to London.
“I couldn’t sleep and watched Tottenham’s game,” he said.
The South Korean is refereeing to Spurs’ 5-0 win over Southampton on Sunday, where his compatriot Son Heung-Min managed a goal and two assists. Min-hyeok is eager to play alongside the 32-year-old forward and also showcase his worth at Tottenham.
“He’s a very good player. If I get to play with him, I’ll be very honoured and grateful. I want to join the team as soon as possible and show my skills,” Min-hyeok explained.
The young player wore No.47 on his back at Gangwon FC and Mikey Moore occupies the same number at Tottenham. Therefore, Min-hyeok has to decide on his new shirt number for the English club.
“Tottenham already has a player who wears No. 47. So, I was told I couldn’t wear that number. I think I should join the team and decide on a number,” he added.
On what Spurs can expect from him, the player said: “I think I’m a little smaller and more agile than the players I’ll be competing with at Tottenham. I’m confident in my instant speed. I will do my best to show my skills at Tottenham.”
