Tottenham Hotspur signed Yago de Santiago from Celta Vigo in 2019, taking the local Vigo boy from the club’s youth system.
Despite being pulled into first team training by Antonio Conte, and signing a fresh deal with Spurs in 2023, he wasn’t able to make enough of a breakthrough and decided to try his luck back in Spanish football.
In July of this year he signed up with Elche in Spain’s second division, and is now starting to make the impact he will have hoped for when deciding to leave the Premier League club.
He’s played 12 league matches for Celta Vigo so far, and has found the back of the net on three occasions. Two of those goals came against Cadiz in a comeback victory on Saturday, and the local media is singing the youngster’s praises.
Sunday’s edition of Atlántico reports Yago de Santiago has become a key player for Celta Vigo, and the 21-year-old is a regular first choice for his manager.
