Arsenal have ‘already inquired’ about Palmeiras youngster Vitor Reis but may have to fight Real Madrid for his signature.
That’s according to scout Marco Palma, to Tuttomercatoweb, who says the 18-year-old is being eyed up by Arsenal after enjoying his emergence in Brazil.
Palma recently made an appearance on TMW’s radio station to discuss the Copa Libertadores final, which was this year dominated by Brazil.
It saw Atletico Mineiro taking on Botafogo, with the latter running out as 3-1 winners despite Gregore being sent off in the second minute.
It was a strong tournament for the Brazilian sides, with Botafogo seeing off Penarol in the semi-finals and their fellow Brazilians Palmeiras and Sao Paulo in the earlier rounds.
They met Palmeiras in the quarterfinals, which meant coming up against Reis, one of the rising talents of Brazilian football at this moment in time.
He’s already been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool named as suitors and competition for Real Madrid back in October.
Now Arsenal can be thrown into the mix, with Palma reporting that they have ‘already enquired’ about the youngster.
TMW say he is a central defender with ‘great personality and great dynamism’ and mature for his age. He also shows natural leadership skills and is good at leading the defence and marking opponents despite his youth.
They liked him to PSG star Marquinhos and say his current market value is €10m, although Palmeiras will presumably significantly more than that.
Either way, Arsenal are very much in the mix and have already made enquiries about the defender.
