Portuguese manager Sergio Conceiçao has receiving ‘convincing arguments’ from Everton and West Ham United but would prefer the latter if it came to a choice between the pair and even Nantes.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover reports that Nantes are looking at the former Porto coach as a possible replacement for Antoine Kombouaré.
The French club are continuing to support their manager, but they sit 17th in Ligue 1 and haven’t won in 10 matches so the pressure is on. A disappointing performance against rivals against Rennes, their Breton rivals, could seal his fate.
Conceiçao is the number one candidate to replace him and a report from Ouest France today indicated talks had already taken place.
L’Equipe follow that up and say the Portuguese coach has not yet spoken directly with the Nantes management about a return to the club.
He has other offers on the table too, with Everton and West Ham both having made ‘convincing arguments’ to the Portuguese coach. According to them, West Ham would be the ‘favoured track’ today.
Both they and Everton are seen as clubs with ‘resources and exposure’ that is greater than what Nantes can provide to Conceiçao.
Emotions and the relationship between Conceiçao and Nantes could still play their part, but Everton and West Ham are in the mix, with the latter viewed more favourably.
