Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is in danger of losing his battle to buy Vasco da Gama, with Andrea Radrizzani at an advanced stage of negotiations.
That’s according to Meiahora, who report that the former Leeds United owner may be one step ahead of Marinakis at this moment in time.
They explain that Marinakis is currently negotiating to buy the Brazilian club, having confirmed he’s in talks for them despite Vasco’s current ownership maintaining confidentiality when asked about the matter.
He’s hired Edu Gaspar from Arsenal to lead his ‘expansion project in Brazil’ and has confirmed the talks, without mentioning values or anything of that nature.
However, the Nottingham Forest owner and his group are not the only European suitors and there are several showing an interest in the Brazilian club.
According to UOL, a fund being led by Radrizzani, Sampdoria owner and former Leeds United owner, is currently at a ‘more advanced stage of negotiations’ than Marinakis.
Journalist Tiago Leifert has also reported that an American group with experience in European football and an Arab fund have also open talks with Vasco’s board of directors.
That means the Nottingham Forest owner is facing serious competition and there’s plenty of danger that he won’t have it his own way in this particular effort.
