West Ham United have become the latest club to enter the battle for US Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, and they mention West Ham when covering the latest on Napoli’s plan to sign him.
Antonio Conte’s side are keen on securing the 20-year-old’s services, after making him their priority target.
The Naples club aren’t alone as other teams are chasing the Denmark international, and the report first points Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea wanted him in the summer window.
It’s further claimed RB Leipzig and West Ham have now joined the chase and are ‘working hard’ to acquire the versatile player’s services. He can operate as a left-back and on both wings.
The report states Lecce are requesting €40m and this has seen some of the interested parties walk away, but not Napoli. They want to avoid a tussle with West Ham, Leipzig and others and have now come up with a strategy.
Gazzetta say Napoli want to try and close the deal with Lecce for around €30m, excluding bonuses, in January and send Dorgu back on loan until the end of this season.
The Hammers are working hard and have to step up if they want to beat Conte’s side in the race for the Dane.
