Manchester United earned around €30m from Scott McTominay’s sale to Napoli in the summer transfer window.

The Scotsman was on the scoresheet for the Italian giants on Sunday, in their 1-0 win over Torino.

It was McTominay’s third goal in Serie A and he also has two assists to his name. He also has one goal in the Coppa Italia and is making a mark under Antonio Conte.

After the game against Torino, Conte was asked about the arrival from Manchester United, his role in the club’s season so far and how much of an impact he has made in the side.

Conte told reporters at the post-game press conference, as relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb: “McTominay? He is a boy who was not a protagonist at United, I knew him well because I was frequently in the Premier [League].

“He has quality, we were good and lucky because he agreed to come in a situation in which we were not playing in Europe and after a tenth place. He could have seen Napoli as a demotion, instead he came to be a protagonist. And time will tell.”

Conte is clearly a big fan of McTominay, who will have further caught his attention by scoring seven Premier League goals for Manchester United last season.

That number could increase at Napoli, especially because Conte has changed his formation to a back four to play the 27-year-old in the final third.

That says everything about the Italian’s trust for the summer signing, whose numbers will increase as the weeks go by.
