Crysencio Summerville left Leeds United for West Ham United in the summer window.

Last season, the 23-year-old starred for the Whites, scoring 21 goals and registering 10 assists in all competitions. The winger hasn’t managed to replicate the Leeds form at West Ham as he has a one goal from 14 games so far.

The former Leeds man has been speaking to Voetbal Internatiomal about West Ham star Mohammed Kudus and his comments are relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

Summerville explained he’s been impressed by the Ghanaian’s qualities and the pair motivate each other at West Ham. This is when he opened up about the impact working with Raphinha at Leeds had on him.

The 27-year-old Brazil international arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2022, after spending two years at Elland Road. During his time with the English club, he played with the Dutchman.

Summerville has hailed the South American’s worth ethic and explained the role played by his former teammate in helping him improve his own game. The outlet states the current West Ham player learned ‘not to be afraid’ from the Barcelona star.

“I always say this to everyone in my circle: Raphinha is the best player I have ever played with,” he said.

“With all due respect to the others, but from what I have seen of him… Not only his gift and his talent, but also the work he puts into it. That’s absurd.

“Then he always said: ‘Cry, the qualities you have… Show them’. During training I tried to play just like him. Then I got more courage, and I also thought: ‘You know what Cry, just do it’. Show your qualities, work hard.”
