Chelsea outcast Ben Chilwell is seen as an ‘interesting opportunity’ at Juventus as their director of football Cristiano Giuntoli scours the market for January transfer options.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say the Italian side have shown ‘initial interests’ in Chilwell ahead of the January transfer window.
The newspaper explains that with injuries worsening in the Juventus squad, Giuntoli has been working for weeks on options to bolster Thiago Motta’s options.
A centre-back is at the top of their priorities, but Giuntoli has begun to ‘comb the market’ to find any opportunities that can be seized when January rolls around.
He will be focused on loans as the club’s accounts would not really allow for permanent signings midway through the season.
One of the opportunities he has discovered may be Chilwell, who has not found a place for himself in Enzo Maresca’s plans at Chelsea so far this season.
The Italian club have shown ‘initial interests’ in the defender and believe he could represent an ‘interesting opportunity’ if the deal was right. It would depend on Chelsea sanctioning something for the 27-year-old, but given he’s managed one 45-minute appearance this season, that’s more than a possibility.
