Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán enjoyed an impressive start to the season but hasn’t been able to maintain it.
The striker scored six goals in the first two months, which convinced the Villans to offer him a new deal [until 2030] on October 7th.
Since the renewal, he scored two goals, and one was in Aston Villa’s EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace last month. The 20-year-old’s dip in form in recent weeks has seen him receive warning from England.
This has reached Colombia, especially Antena 2, who then provide their own take on the player. They also point out claims from elsewhere about the possibility of the English club offloading him next summer, if he doesn’t improve his form.
The Colombia international is limited to a substitute’s role, with only three starts from 19 matches in all competitions, clocking in 638 minutes in the process. He hasn’t yet made a start in the Premier League this season.
According to those close to Durán, Unai Emery has ‘demanded substantial improvement’ from the frontman. This would probably be needed for him to save his future at Villa Park.
The report states the South American will have to look for options in the market in 2025, if he continues to be a substitute.
Durán could improve his situation at Aston Villa by fulfilling the manager’s demand.
