Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted he’s at a loss to fix the current crisis, after Feyenoord added to their ongoing misery.
The Manchester City boss spoke to Brazilian media, specifically journalist Fred Caldeira, about the 3-3 draw with Dutch side on Tuesday evening, in which he seemed to admit he’s baffled by the current run of results and brought the Tottenham defeat up as an example.
Manchester City threw away a three-goal lead inside 15 minutes in the second half after taking control of the game via goals from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan.
However, a Josko Gvardiol mistake allowed Feyenoord to get back into the game and it was collapse from there on out as goals from Santiago Gimenez and then David Hancko in the 82n and 89th minutes drew the away side level.
The result made it six games in all competition without a win for Manchester City, who also conceded four at home in the 4-0 loss to Tottenham at the weekend and to Sporting Club de Portugal in a 4-1 defeat before the international break.
It’s a worrying run of form for the Premier League champions, to say the least, and Guardiola was lost for an explanation, citing Tottenham as an example.
“We played a good match, a match almost closed and three episodes have condemned us,” he said.
“It is a game of mistakes. We have given them the goals and emotionally now we are with important people out there, unstable, and this is the game, what else can we do, but we have given it to them.
“We have conceded many goals, they give us few chances, but Tottenham make nine chances, we make 26 and we lose 0-4. I don’t know the chances we have had, the ones they have had, and we have tied. We are not stable, we can concede the 3-1, which can’t happen, because if they do it well, we have to accept it, but then we do it again and again.”
