Manchester City taking steps for future signing – Official travels after requesting access

The last time Viktor Gyokeres played in the Champions League, he got a hat-trick against Manchester City.

The Sporting striker will be on show again later this week when the Portuguese giants take on Arsenal, and there will naturally be a lot of eyes on the 26-year-old, who has scored five times in the Champions League already.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Record have looked at the Swede’s situation, who will be watched by scouts during the game against the Gunners.

Officials from Manchester City are expected to be present at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, as the Citizens have already requested access – like some other potential suitors.

Observers from Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will also be watching the striker.

The outlet indicates that Hugo Viana’s presence at Manchester City could be key in this scouting mission.

Gyokeres is not keen on leaving Sporting in the January transfer window but if his release clause of €100m is triggered, the Portuguese club will allow the club offering it to discuss terms with the player.

For now, the amount is considered too high by the interested clubs but the feeling is that things could change as the weeks go by.
