Sometimes players can face struggles at multiple clubs before finding a manager who will show enough faith in them to help build firm confidence that good form can grow from.
It would appear Moise Kean is one of those players.
Juventus cashed in from around €30m when they sold him to the Toffees and there were naturally big hopes attached to the forward. Although he showed glimmers of the talent he undoubtedly has, he wasn’t able to fulfil the expectations at Everton and it became clear that he’d be better moving on from Goodison Park.
Everton decided to loan the player to PSG, and he did pretty well with the opportunities he was given at the French club, only for them to send him back to the Premier League side.
Then a permanent return to Juventus, which initially began as a loan with a near-compulsory purchase clause attached, brought Everton most of their money back, and yet Kean failed to really explode again.
The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals in 14 matches so far this season, and Sunday’s Gazzetta dello Sport takes a look at his success at Fiorentina.
According to the Italian newspaper, Kean just needed confidence to shine. That’s confidence in himself, and from his teammates and manager.
They quote Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino as saying: “With Moise I touched the keys of love and I gave confidence to a boy who really needed it and who had to regain his self-esteem.
“He was very good because he made himself available to the group with great humility, he did a great job on himself and in my opinion he has great room for improvement. Not even Moise knows how much room for improvement he has.”
