Osasuna are ‘very clear’ that they do not want to sell defender Enzo Boyomo in the January transfer window, with Aston Villa hovering.
That’s according to AS and Mundo Deportivo, who both say that the Spanish club want it known that the player’s €25m release clause will need to be matched if he is to leave.
Reports throughout the last week have claimed Aston Villa are circling Boyomo, seemingly impressed by his performances for Osasuna this season.
Indeed, a report from local newspaper Diario de Noticias this week insisted that Aston Villa’s interest ‘is real’ and that Osasuna were aware Monchi was making moves.
They say his excellent performances this season have aroused Villa’s interest and despite there not being any contact yet, the Premier League side were watching Boyomo in his debut for Cameroon during the international break.
Osasuna’s board are aware of the interest but ‘do not have plans to sell’ in the near future and will insist his €25m release clause, tied to a deal until 2029, is met. They know Aston Villa could afford that but Boyomo ‘has no intention of leaving’ for now.
AS say Aston Villa ‘would be interested’ in the 23-year-old and as a response, Osasuna have made it ‘very clear’ that they want to keep the defender for the foreseeable future.
It seems they want the message out there that a sale in January won’t be happening, unless that clause is met and their hand is forced, at which point Villa may need to work on convincing Boyomo anyway.
