Questions need to be raised about Joshua Zirkzee at Manchester United, as the forward is showing ‘nothing at all’ at this moment in time.
That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen, via Soccer News, who believes it is time to start fearing the worst for the 23-year-old.
Zirkzee has had a torrid time of things since joining Manchester United in a €42.5m deal from Bologna in the summer.
He scored on his debut against Fulham but has not scored in any competition since, only managing assists against Fenerbahce and West Ham.
Indeed, there have been growing suggestions that a return to Italy could be on the cards in the January transfer window, with big swap deals even suggested, despite them being seemingly unrealistic.
In the meantime, Zirkzee tries to find some form but was unable to do that this week as he was left out of the Netherlands’ squad for the 4-0 win over Hungary and then put in a non-descript 77 minute display in the 1-1 draw with Bosnia.
Driessen watched the Manchester United forward closely and believes it is time to start worrying about his current situation.
“He didn’t make it happen either, he showed nothing at all. Then you think: if this is the future of the Dutch national team, then we have to fear the worst,” he said.
