Aston Villa star Amadou Onana has added his voice to the growing critics on Domenico Tedesco after Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard openly criticised the tactics against Belgium.
Sporza have an interview with the Aston Villa star today following the 1-0 defeat to Italy in the Nations League that continued the Red Devils recent poor run of results.
They have now lost three of their last four games in the Nations League, a sequence of results that has added pressure on Tedesco after the disappointing performances at Euro 2024.
The 1-0 defeat to Italy was seen as a missed opportunity by many and came via a poor first half showing in which Tedesco appeared to have gotten his tactics wrong.
Trossard aired those frustrations publically, making it clear that it had been Tedesco’s tactics that had held him and his teammates back in that disappointing performance.
He’s now been backed up by the Aston Villa midfielder, although Onana is taking a move diplomatic approach to the matter.
“It’s hard to be satisfied after a defeat,” he said.
“But there are things we can build on, especially from the second half. There were possibilities. We have to analyze this match carefully.
“That we showed two faces. Tactically, Italy was very well armed, after the break we adjusted our positions, and it was better. Were we also too passive? Yes, and there was also some aggressiveness missing. We should have started like in the second half.”
