Borussia Dortmund’s decision to sign Pascal Groß from Brighton and Hove Albion is now being questioned as he’s statistically the slowest player in the Bundesliga.
That’s according to SportBILD, who report that Groß is a ‘topic of conversation’ at the Bundesliga club despite only arriving from Brighton in the summer transfer window.
One statistic in particularly is raising questions about the 33-year-old, his ‘slow top speed’, which currently ranks him as the slowest player in the entire Bundesliga.
Groß initially showed promising performances after arriving from Brighton in te summer for €7m and was a leading player at the beginning of the campaign but has now dropped out of contention.
It’s particularly striking because it is extremely low compared to other players in the division and a possible weakness given Dortmund want to play a fast style of play.
A tense personal situation off of the pitch has also not helped him settle and that, coupled with physical limitations, means he is unable to play the central midfield role to the extent that Dortmund had hoped for.
Thus, questions are being asked about the former Brighton man, who now needs to prove himself in the coming weeks or risk even more debate about his role in the team long-term.
