Tottenham are one of the sides interested in Vasco de Gama youngster Rayan, who is also being looked at by Lyon.
That’s according to Vascaino, who report that the 18-year-old is attracting the attention of major international clubs thanks to his performances in Brazil.
The latest of those clubs to indicate an interest in the player is Lyon, the French club owned by John Textor, who also owns Botafogo.
They’re keeping an eye on the forward and have already started negotiations with the Rio de Janeiro club to negotiate a possible transfer.
Tottenham have also ‘sought information’ about the player too. They see him as an opportunity to strengthen their squad with a ‘rising talent’ who can add ‘technical value’. He fits in to the current model at the club to target youngsters to develop for the future.
President Pedrinho, aware of the interest, has made it clear Rayan will only leave for a significant amount. His current price is €18m, which would see the club make a ‘clean’ R$112m from him.
Lyon have already made a firm offer but Tottenham are closely following the situation and ‘willing to enter the dispute’ if they must. This suits Vasco as they need a sale to provide cash flow to their ‘ailing coffers’.
Now, given the source we’ll take this with a pinch of salt for now but it’s not the first time Rayan has been linked with a move to the Premier League. Aston Villa were said to be keen in September.
Vasco’s need for a sale and Tottenham’s desire to sign young players means it’s easy to imagine them being keen on the talent, though, so we’ll keep a close eye on things from here.
