Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a difficult start to the season and are currently 19th in the table with two points after nine games.

Wolves have also struggled with injuries to several players including centre-back Yerson Mosquera and attackers Enso González, Saša Kalajdžić and Hee-chan Hwang.

The Premier League side have now identified Toulouse FC’s Zakaria Aboukhlal as the new target for January. That’s according to Africa Foot, who make it clear this is their original information.

Wolves have ‘established contacts in recent hours’ to convince the 24-year-old winger to make a switch to England.

It’s further claimed Gary O’Neil’s side are looking to secure the Morrocco international’s services on a loan deal with an option to buy. There’s no mention of any figures for the purchase option.

Africa Foot add the talks have started and are ongoing between the parties. They haven’t made it clear whether Wolves are in talks with the player’s camp, the Ligue 1 side or both.

The attacker scored three goals from 14 games last season as his game time was mainly limited due to a knee injury. He’s been a regular this season, managing three goals and an assist from nine games.

Aboukhlal’s contract lasts until 2026.
