Manchester United are creating a profile of Alphonso Davies ahead of making a move for the Bayern Munich defender in the coming months.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who has added more information on Manchester United’s efforts for the defender.
He reported yesterday that Manchester United’s interest in Davies was becoming more concrete, with him currently set to be a free agent next summer.
The defender is out of contract at the end of the season and negotiations with Bayern Munich have not progressed, largely due to the 23-year-old and his agent’s demands.
If no new deal is signed by 1 January, he will be free to start negotiating a pre-contract agreement with clubs around Europe. Several are already lining themselves up, including Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The journalist then added more information on Sky Sports Germany’s Transfer update show, in which he detailed what’s happening behind the scenes.
“Alphonso Davies is something like the wish, the dream transfer for the Red Devils and the interest, you could say, that is now becoming a little more concrete,” he said.
“The club, the Red Devils, are now gathering information, a normal process. Various protagonists are being sent to get an idea of Davies the person and the player.
“What makes him tick? How is he viewed in the dressing room? What can he do? The Davies profile is now being created at Manchester United.
“Then they will see whether he is a fit or not? And then they may take the next step. There was definitely an inquiry to from Manchester United to his agent in the past few weeks and months to find out, would that be conceivable?
And he must have said, difficult. He wants to attack the really big trophies and that is currently not possible at United.”
