Brighton & Hove Albion’s Valentín Barco joined Sevilla on loan in the summer window, after manager Fabian Hürzeler left him out of his core plans at The Amex this season.

The Argentina international arrived at the La Liga side to replace his compatriot, Marcos Acuña. He’s been competing with Adrià Pedrosa for a place in the starting lineup this season.

Operating as a left-back, the Brighton owned player has made five appearances for the Spanish club.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC explain the 20-year-old has multiple problems when defending but has been better at going forward. They state he’s a ‘very explosive footballer’ when attacking.  The Andalusian club feel the Seagulls man is ‘more of an attacker than defender’.

Barco’s defensive qualities haven’t convinced Sevilla manager García Pimienta.  Earlier this month, we covered claims from Spain that he hired a personal trainer to improve his physique. He believes this will help him meet the defensive requirements requested by Pimienta.

Sevilla winger Chidera Ejuke has picked up an injury and this is a blow for his side. Vamos Mi Sevilla FC say the Nigerian’s setback provides a ‘perfect opportunity’ for Barco to be used in attack.
