Arne Slot’s recent comments about Federico Chiesa have led to suggestions Liverpool could loan him out in the January transfer window.
Calciomercato.it come out with the wild transfer claim today as Chiesa continues to struggle at Liverpool following his move in the summer.
The Italian forward joined Liverpool in a low-cost deal from Juventus and was the Reds only new arrival in a quiet window as goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvili remained on loan at Valencia.
Chiesa has barely been seen since his arrival, though, playing a substitute role at best behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.
CM.it say now that because of that Liverpool could consider the idea of a six-month loan in January to get him playing time and then evaluate him next summer.
A return to Italy would work out best and Inter Milan, AC Milan and AS Roma would be willing to make a calculated gamble to relaunch themselves and the player.
They’d need help from Liverpool as the Italian earns €7.5m a year and the Reds would need to pay part of that for a few months. Whether they’d be willing to do so isn’t mentioned.
The whole idea is speculative at best and largely seems to have been borne out of Slot’s comments rather than anything serious at this point.
