At the weekend, former AS Roma boss Claudio Ranieri spoke about the club’s Friedkin ownership, and it wasn’t quite a positive take for Everton fans.

The Italian stated that the Giallorossi’s American owners operate with a sense of coldness and that the club has lacked a reference point, especially after Daniele de Rossi’s sacking.

It was quite a damning indictment of the Toffees’ new owners and there is now more criticism of the Friedkins.

Roma fan Maurizio Gasparri represents the Lazio region in the Italian parliament. He spoke to Rai Radio1 about the protest against the ownership that took place during the defeat to Inter Milan.

He said, as relayed by RomaNews: “I agree with yesterday’s judgment of the Curva Sud, who missed 15 minutes because they detest this Roma management. I would have gone to the Curva to hold up the banner against these Friedkins, who can leave the sooner the better.”

Gasparri also urged the Friedkins to focus their attention on Everton, but he feels that they might ruin that task as well.

“They bought Everton, let them deal with that. I say this with great regret for the Everton fans who will find out who they are dealing with. Vox populi, vox dei [the voice of the people is the voice of God].”

The last two months have been rather turbulent for Roma’s owners. It isn’t as if they haven’t pumped money into Roma, who were heavy spenders in the summer transfer window.

It’s the club’s lack of planning and communication which has let them down, as they sacked De Rossi months after handing him a new deal.
