Nottingham Forest were again very active in the summer transfer window and one player who caught their attention was FC Porto winger Galeno.

The 26-year-old, who stayed at Porto, was also linked with a move to Juventus and there was a point when it seemed as if he could leave the Portuguese side, despite having a pretty high release clause.

The Brazil international has started the new season well for Porto, putting the talk about Nottingham Forest and others behind him. He was asked about the failed move to the Premier League in an interview after the club’s cup win over Sintrense.

The pacy winger said, as relayed by O Jogo: “This is my home. While I’m here, I’ll give my life. They embraced me, they take care of me and I just have to give back on the pitch.”

Galeno seems happy with life at Porto and has no regrets about the failure to join Forest, whose attempt for him was quite ambitious.

On top of that, it was probably their only chance of signing him. Considering how he has six league goals for Porto already, his value and reputation will only rise, making sure that the fee is moving higher and interest rising.

He is currently playing in European competitions and that is something the Tricky Trees couldn’t have offered, making his decision to stay at Porto an understandable one.
