Manchester City youngster Kayky is finally ready to make his debut for Sparta Rotterdam, nearly four months after joining them on loan.
That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, who cover the 21-year-old today as he gets ready to finally make his debut in the Netherlands.
Kayky has been with Manchester City since 2021 after joining their U23s from Fluminense but is yet to appear for the club, going out on loan to Pacos Ferreira and then EC Bahia.
He suffered torn knee ligaments in July 2023 and has not been seen since, spending 455 days out injured and a ‘long rehabilitation’ alongside that.
AD explain that is about to change this weekend and bring an end to what’s been a long wait for the Dutch club.
They had initially targeted the Manchester City youngster in 2022, encouraged by what their scouts had seen of him and the fact he was the highest rated youngster at the Etihad according to Football Manager 2023.
Jesper Gudde, technical manager at Sparta, is one of the many millions of players of that game ad was keen to bring the player to his club.
That never happened but they signed Koki Saito that summer and then Metinho a year later. Their respective developments impressed Manchester City and so they allowed Kayky to move there this summer. Metinho has a close bond with Kayky and event talked him into the move.
Now he’s set to make his debut this weekend, with an injury to Tobias Lauritsen opening up a possibility for the Manchester City man.
He is now hoping to bounce back after 15 months out of the game and prove that the wait for Sparta was worth it.
