Former Roma CEO Lina Souloukou is ‘in the running for Everton’ once the Friedkin Group have completed their takeover of the Premier League club.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Greek CEO may make her return to football with Everton despite being sacked by the Friedkins last month.
The newspaper cover her as part of an article explaining the plans at Roma to replace her, with Alessandro Antonello the current number one candidate.
Souloukou was fired from her position as CEO at Roma last month following a major backlash from fans after the sacking of Daniele de Rossi as manager. She was the one blamed for that decision and faced the ire of the ultras, even being put under police protection as threats were made.
Inter CEO Antonello is being eyed as her replacement and appears to be the leading candidate although there are other names being considered such as Giovanni Carnevali and Claudio Fenucci.
Corriere say while Antonello appears to be favourite, the Friedkins are owners who often pull ‘surprise moves’ so it could be anyone. And that also applies to Souloukou’ s future.
Some rumours have her ‘in the running’ for the job at Everton once that takeover is completed, which would be a ‘curious operation’ given Souloukou was fired by the Friedkins less than a month ago.
The reality, though, is that the Americans aren’t opposed to surprise moves such as that and Souloukou’s exit was more to do with the growing fan resentment towards her than any poor performance in her role as CEO at Roma.
Thus, the possibility of her arriving at Goodison Park, where the CEO role has been temporarily filled since 2023, is absolutely there.
