Scott McTominay left Manchester United for Napoli on deadline day of the last window.
The midfielder has made five appearances for the Naples club and is yet to suffer a defeat with his new team. He has also managed two goals and an assist in the process.
Last month, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna stated he was thrilled with the 27-year-old’s decision to leave Manchester United. A section of the Italian media are puzzled that the Red Devils let him go.
Sport Mediaset journalist Riccardo Trevisani was discussing the Serie A side’s season so far and that’s when he mentioned the Scotland international. His comments are relayed by Tutto Napoli.
Trevisani believes the former Manchester United man isn’t underrated, and McTominay’s qualities weren’t valued appropriately at Old Trafford.
“McTominay underrated? He was already a great player, everyone understood it except those incompetent Manchester United.”
The journalist has backed Conte to guide Napoli to the title success this season.
“Conte brought work culture to Napoli. Lukaku will score 18 goals. Scudetto? Because they don’t compete in the cups and Conte is on the bench, an absolute guarantee,” Trevisani explained.
Earlier this month, former West Ham United star Paolo Di Canio called for Manchester United directors to be “arrested” for letting McTominay go in the summer.
