Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez is “an example” for the Mexican national team and deserves the praise coming his way after a difficult period.
That’s according to the Mexico teammate Johan Vásquez via TUDN, who has added his voice to the praise for the Fulham star after his performance against the USA.
Jiménez was the star of the show in Mexico’s 2-0 win over Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Tuesday evening, bagging a goal and putting in an all-star performance that had the nation’s media singing his praises afterwards.
It’s a big moment for the 33-year-old, whose return to the national team after he and other veterans were pushed out by the previous management team was heavily questioned by fans and pundits alike.
Instead, he’s proven his doubters wrong with his latest display, in which he absolutely carried on the fine form he’s been enjoying with Fulham at the start of this season.
And Vásquez is clearly delighted to see that, insisting the striker deserves all of the praise coming his way.
“Very good, Raúl is a player who is in England for a reason, he is an example for us,” he said.
“He has persisted despite things that have happened in life, he is an example for me and the boys who want to be like him, to transcend in Europe.
“I am glad that he scored a great goal, he played well for the team, he is a player who will support us a lot.”
