According to claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray have offered an improved contract to Baris Alper Yilmaz as they look to deter interested clubs from signing the player in the new year.

The Turkey international has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in the past few weeks after reports they’ll make another attempt to land the attacker during the next transfer window.

Fanatik today report on the latest developments regarding the future of Yilmaz as Galatasaray look to tie him down to the club. The 24-year-old has continued his impressive form from last season and has been prolific in the Super Lig.

This has led the Turkish champions to offering the player an improved contract which will result in an increase in his salary, and more importantly to any interested clubs, a release clause of €35m.

It’s reported he will sign the contract in the new year and that the Istanbul side have no plans to sell during the next window.

There were reports last month that Nottingham Forest had made an offer for Yilmaz just before the transfer window closed in August. More recent claims in Turkey said Forest planned to return for the player in January and that they’ve continued to monitor him.

Yilmaz has scored four goals in seven Super Lig starts this season and is contracted to Galatasaray until 2027.
