On Tuesday evening, Mundo Deportivo‘s transfer blog had a little snippet which is related to Leeds United. It’s starting to slowly spread elsewhere in Spain so it’s worth taking a look.

The Spanish newspaper reported Real Betis are considering signing ‘high-quality’ Junior Firpo in the winter market. Betis are looking to compete in three competitions, at least for as long as possible, and would like to strengthen their squad.

The Leeds United player ‘would not be against returning’ to Real Betis, having played for them and Barcelona previously.

Indeed, Firpo has been linked with a return to Betis in most of the windows since he left the Seville club, it’s almost a tradition so it’s somewhat comforting they’re getting this one in early.

He has a contract with Leeds United running until June 2025, which makes him attractive for Betis. However, knowing the club and their finances, they’d probably prefer waiting until they can secure the 28-year-old on a free transfer.

Should Firpo not sign a renewal then it’s likely there’ll be a queue of clubs waiting to tempt him.
