Even the most ardent of Manchester City fans would admit there’s been multiple periods of time when Bernardo Silva has seemed less than entirely content at the Premier League club.

His eyes have turned to different countries, and, whilst a transfer to PSG has been floated on multiple occasions, it’s Spain which has appeared to grab his attention the most.

Perhaps if Barcelona hadn’t been in an era of complete financial chaos then Bernardo would have got the move many long thought he wanted.

However, life clearly hasn’t been bad at all to him at Manchester City. He was content enough to sign a new contract in August 2023, and that deal runs until June 2026.

Therefore, as long as nothing changes between now and next summer, the 30-year-old will be working under a structure headed by Hugo Viana.

Sporting’s director of football is moving to Manchester City, and Bernardo has naturally been asked about that whilst on international duty with Portugal.

Wednesday’s edition of Record quotes him as saying: “I don’t know him personally, but being Portuguese it will be positive for us.”

Maybe that can help Bernardo to feel a little more at home, and he’ll have someone else to go out for meals with.
