Last week, Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph stated he’s only concerned about the Whites and not any other club.

The 22-year-old arrived at Leeds from Espanyol in January 2022. Earlier this year, Daniel Farke’s side extended his contract until 2028.

Joseph scored a hat-trick for Spain U21 in their 4-3 win over Kazakhstan on Thursday.

OK Diario had a chat with the striker where he discussed his decision to swap England for Spain, last week’s hat-trick, plans for future and other topics.

The Leeds player was in the academies at Racing Santander and Espanyol but never experienced first team football in Spain. The outlet specifically asked Joseph whether he sees himself playing in Spain in the future.

Responding to that, the frontman made it clear that he’s currently happy with his life at Leeds.

“Spain as a country is incredible. For me the best in the world. And I would always like to live here,” he said.

“The truth is that you never know what opportunities will arise in the world of football. But I’m very happy to be at Leeds and with that goal of returning the club to the place where it deserves.”

On his ‘most special moment’ with the English club, Joseph explained: “Making my debut in the Premier League and scoring a brace at Stamford Bridge were very beautiful moments. But I’ll stick with the second.”

“It is a stadium that you have been watching games since you were little. I remember watching many Chelsea games in the Champions League. And being able to score two goals against a team like that is something that so far in my short career is very important.”

The Leeds attacker idolises former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. His goal is to follow his compatriot’s footsteps and represent Spain’s senior team.

“Everyone has their own path. But it would be amazing. Right now, I’m 20-years-old and there’s a lot left. That would be a dream. To do this you have to work hard and continue doing the things you need to do. And for that you have to listen to people who know. I always have that ambition until I reach the maximum,” he added.
Joseph has scored a goal and registered three assists from nine Championship games for Leeds this season.
