Jurgen Klopp’s decision to become the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, for his first job after Liverpool, hasn’t quite gone down well with certain sections of the media… especially in Germany.

To many, the partnership seems like a mismatch, especially given some of Klopp’s comments from his time in charge at Anfield.

Support for the German has now come in the form of words from his former player – Diogo Jota. The Portuguese attacker spoke to Record in Portugal during the ongoing international break and was asked about Klopp’s decision to join Red Bull and the controversy around it.

The forward said: “Klopp? He’s a person I have a lot of affection for, we have to respect his decision. I wish him the best of luck in this new stage.”

Since the announcement was made earlier this week, the German media have been covering the situation heavily, trying to work out what exactly Klopp will be doing for the energy drinks giant.

There has long been negativity in the country towards Red Bull and that extended to what they’ve done at RB Leipzig. The way the company change names, and sometimes colours, of clubs is seen as the opposite to how many German football fans want the game to be.
